Activist campaigned for justice after his wife was killed along with 28 other victims in 1998 incident
One of the most active campaigners for the victims of the Omagh bomb atrocity has died.
Laurence Rush passed away a nursing home outside the Co Tyrone town on Sunday.
The 70-year-old's wife Elizabeth was killed along with 28 other victims caught in the Real IRA bomb blast that destroyed the centre of Omagh in August 1998. It was the single biggest massacre of the Northern Ireland's Troubles.
Speaking shortly after the bombing Rush said: "They haven't just destroyed my wife, they have destroyed me. I have lost not only my wife, I have lost my soulmate."
Elizabeth was serving customers in their family-run shop in Market Street in Omagh, when she died. The pair had been together since they were teenagers. He identified her body on the Sunday after the explosion.
Following the atrocity Rush became a campaigner for justice for the bombing victims. He was being cared for in the nursing home after suffering a stroke in recent years and died surrounded by his family.
