As someone who tuned out to support my local Boxing day hunt (Report, 26 December), I can testify not just to the large number of supporters, but also to their cross-section: the comararderie was self-evident. I would venture to suggest that an infinitely more fun time was had than those hordes of consumers drawn like lemmings to the shops.

• Perhaps the Guardian could take a lead in increasing the negligible coverage of women's sport by committing to devoting one page each day of your sport section to coverage of women's sport (Report, 15 December). This is not intended to create a "ghetto" but would be an interim measure leading to fuller integration of coverage as you develop the writers and expertise in the sports that currently get no coverage .
