• Under a label reading Boris on the brink: Mayor treads Olympic board, a front-page photo appeared with this caption: "Diver Tom Daley with London's mayor, Boris Johnson, as two women practise at the 17,500 capacity aquatic centre in London." Several readers asked why the women – seen "executing immaculate, synchronised dives", as one reader said – were left anonymous while the two men standing nearby were identified? The synchronised diving pair were Tonia Couch and Sarah Barrow. This information was not supplied with the photo from an external source – an omission we failed to remedy (10 January, page 1).
• Speaking of the university, St Andrew's should have been St Andrews (Fugitive Lib Dem donor arrested in Caribbean, 7 January, page 6).
• In a books column, Ten of the best: Clocks (7 January, page 11, Review), the entry on The Thirteen Clocks named James Thurber's heroine, the beautiful Princess Saralinda, as Princess Sardinia.
• 'Government should stop state secrets being aired in court' was amended to make clear while the members of Britain's intelligence and security commitee are drawn from the Commons and House of Lords, the ISC is not a parliamentary committee, as the story described it.
• Kathryn Bigelow's Bin Laden film to star Joel Edgerton was corrected because it said the US presidential election would occur after the film's release on 19 December 2012, when in fact the release will follow the election.
