Alan Taylor, who was found at same time as man next door, had breached asbo issued over harassment, CPS says

A 55-year-old found dead at the same time as another man next door had previously breached an asbo preventing him from harassing his neighbour.

Alan Taylor, 59, was found dead in his home in Braintree, Essex, on Sunday afternoon after paramedics were called to reports he was suffering a cardiac arrest.

On arrival paramedics were alerted to the death of another man, Richard Wight, 55, who lived next door.

A spokesman for the Crown Prosecution Service confirmed Wight received a six-month conditional discharge in January 2009 after admitting to breaching the terms of his asbo, issued in 2007.

The breach came after he used offensive words or behaviour towards Taylor in breach of the order.

Neighbours had also claimed that Wight attacked Taylor in 2002, but the CPS had no record of the incident.

Residents said the men had been embroiled in a long-running dispute over a parking space.

One resident, who did not wish to be named, said: "They certainly didn't get on and people are saying that it got worse over Christmas.

"I try to keep my nose out of other people's business so it's difficult to say what it's about but parking is a problem around here."

Detectives from Essex police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the deaths, which are being treated a suspicious.

A spokesman said the investigation would centre upon both men's movements since 1 January.
